And then it’s May… the heat index, the summer feel is upon us. It’s hard to imagine that we are almost at the half year mark. Lots have happened, and lots still about to happen.

For starters, we staged a mother and child exhibit at the Shangri-La. UNBREAKABLE (…is the bond between mother and child). A project helmed by our very own ARMI YAN. Exhibiting artists are Arlene Donaire, Armi Yam, Bern Wong, Billy Palatino, Cha Pagdilao, David Lim, James Singlador, Jeff Dytuco, Michael Olivares, and yours truly.

The show was curated, printed, and directed by Red Ognita and REDLAB. It runs until the 14^th of this month. In the words of our ARLENE DONAIRE who crafted the statement piece for the show “One completes the other, like the start and end of an epic tale, like the golden dusk that ushers in the imminent freshness of the dawn”. Such poetry and a fitting greeting for Mother’s Day. So, to all the ZVCC mothers at heart, have wonderfully special day! Do pop in and catch the show.

May 10, our golf tournament, kicks of our first step into our ROAD TO GOLD. Headed by BERN WONG, BOY KAW,GOV DANNY YU AND JEFF DYTUCO. The gears are churning at warp speed. We have booked most golfing slots, finetuning the day, and yes, all systems are a go in this! Again, a shout out for support for the day itself – and advanced congratulations to the hard-working team behind our 2^nd golf tournament!!

Allow me to note though, as this golf marks our intro into the ROAD TO GOLD journey, the proceeds from this will, one, go to a “piggy bank” that we will grow so that come 2028, we can all have a uniquely memorable 50^th anniversary bash that’s light on the pocket for all qualifying members. And second, FOR THIS YEAR, this event can gift 2023 members with a free workshop. For the bodyscapes theme, perhaps?? Stay tuned for this.

This month we revert to our zoom meeting format. My hope is that you’re all shooting and/or digging for your BLACK AND WHITE IN COLOR THEME. June meeting would also be via ZOOM for the “HOME IN TRIPTYCH” theme.

Being out from under the cloud of the pandemic, has been fun for me so far. Seeing so many of you in person, sharing a meal together, having live meetings, shooting and yes, catching up face to face makes for truer camaraderie. Thank you to everyone. Looking forward to how the rest of the year will unfold.
