July 2022

Bern Wong

Hello again friends!

It gives me great pleasure to have the chance to interact with you more and more in person like in our recently conducted Let’s Z Places as the health restrictions have eased a bit and businesses are back humming.

It is but interesting that for the month of July our theme for our photo contest is ‘UP CLOSE and PERSONAL’ – defined as close-up or macro photography. Our Town hall meeting will be this July 14, Thursday, 8:00 pm via Zoom.

I am excited to see all your wonderful images and I trust that the photo walk we did in La Mesa Eco Park gave you the opportunity to have various choices of images to submit. Our Contest Committee have invited  an interesting set of judges and another lively program awaits all of us.

This month of July is a culmination of a project we initiated to showcase the talents of our club members and provide service to the community through photography. I am proud that we are revealing to the public our Lingkod Larawan initiative.

I am in awe with the privilege given to me to be able to have a sneak peek of the printed images when they were being installed at the walls of the UP College of Medicine. I am truly proud of all the works ZVCC members have donated for this worthy cause. I am beaming with gratefulness that we have enlivened the halls of an esteemed learning institution and our works are immortalized for many more Filipino youths to see and hopefully be inspired.

The images are printed on coated canvas at the size of 4ft x 4ft to as huge as 4ft x 6ft! The scale and beauty of the photographs are really mind blowing. I urge everyone to join us this July 9 for the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with our partner, the University of the Philippines, Medical Alumni Foundation Inc., (UPMAFI) as well as the unveiling of images with the respective artists signing their work.

My big thanks to all who donated images and of course, to the team who worked so hard behind the Lingkod Larawan project. My special thanks too to Jeff Dytuco of Strawberry Jam, for ensuring that all images are ready for display before the unveiling.

Once again, I look forward to your active participation and would love to see you ‘up close and personal’ in all our coming activities!

Sincerely,
