Have you wondered the history behind the Zone V Camera Club logo? What it means? Who designed it? When did it first appear?

A founding member and a ZVCC pillar himself, tells us the backstory.

The Zone V Camera Club Logo

By Angelo Amistoso

In 1978, barely two months after the Club’s organizational meeting, in the Club’s maiden issue of Exposure V, the Club monthly Newsletter, initiated by Adel Francisco, the Club logo appeared, one designed by an artist member, the late Ben Alcantara (namesake of the creator of the famous ‘Gorio And His Jeepney’ comic strip).

As per his ZVCC logo design concept, this image must be presented vertically. At quick glance, an eye is placed graphically at the center, and as per the artist’s comment, there is a semblance of a human being with raised arms meeting overhead forming an arch.

Looking much further, this writer finds an image of a new born baby, born on that momentous day on March 5, 1978, Zone V Camera Club’s birth at the Metropolitan Club, Metropolitan St., Bel-Air Makati.

This baby turned 44 this month, is robust, full grown, a free thinker, has artistic and creative mind, resilient and adaptive to the changing times.

Editor’s note: Do join us on March 26, 2022 as the Club celebrates its 44th year and reunion of members, at Paradores Del Castillo, Taal, Batangas.

Salo-salo na tayo sa Taal!
