ZVCC’s Newly Inducted Member:

REGINA VERGARA

  1. Please tell us about yourself: your family, your work, your hobbies and other interests.

Hello! I am Regina Vergara. You may call me“Reg”. I am an architect by profession and the eldest of four siblings. My day job is at an international real estate services company supporting project managers based in Australia. I do freelance design work on the weekends. Aside from photography, I enjoy riding on a motorcycle and working out. I started my photography hobby when I was a teenager by borrowing my late father’s point and shoot.

  1. Share with us some thoughts on your ZVCC Probee experience.

The “Probee Experience” was both intimidating and challenging for me. The high caliber of photography produced by the members was daunting. Before joining this club, I was mainly an occasional weekend photographer. I’d take my mirrorless camera on motorcycle trips and shoot the scenery. Most of my shots were spontaneous reactions to subjects that looked aesthetically pleasing: “Oh, how pretty! CLICK!” The monthly contest themes exposed me to different kinds of subjects and pushed me to incorporate concepts and stories into my images. I still have much to learn in the areas of conceptualization and storytelling before I can make it to the Top Ten.

What I enjoyed most over these past few months in the club is the encouragement and camaraderie among the members. They are always willing to share their knowledge and tips on where to find the best deals on gear. Haha!

  1. What type of movies, TV shows and music do you enjoy?

My all time favorite movies are from Wong Kar Wai, “In the Mood for Love” and its sequel “2046”. I am currently playing Daft Punk’s music on repeat these days, including their collaborations with other artists.

  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?

I’ll invest part of it for my family. Then I will take a month-long vacation somewhere in the Philippines with a beautiful beach without signal! Lastly, put up a business that will help the marginalized in the agriculture sector.

  1. If you were given a chance to spend one day with a famous personality (living or dead), who would that person be and why?

Kim Kardashian. She was able to manipulate the infamy she earned from her scandalous “tape” several years ago. I think she has a talent of turning her virality into money making ventures. She’s worth nearly $2 billion USD now from her reality TV shows, social media engagements, clothing and cosmetic lines. I’d like to pick her brain for her business acumen.

  1. Would you rather be a jack-of-all trades or a master of one?

Jack-of-all trades. I would like to be relatable to a wide audience. I think being such makes you a highly adaptable person to a wide range of situations.

  1. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

I am a good listener. You can trust me to keep a secret. I keep many dark secrets of my closest friends. But I forget around half of those secrets anyway.

  1. What is the most memorable lesson you learned from your parents?

Taking care of one’s body. Being healthy is a long term investment. But that is easier said than done. One has to be disciplined in their fitness routine (exercise, good diet, routine medical checkups etc.) and strike a balance so you can still enjoy life. I am a vegetarian and exercise regularly but I do enjoy a proper inuman (beer, hard drinks, cocktails, wine – Everything.) with people close to me.
