ZVCC’s Newly Inducted Member:

CRIS SAN JOSE

Zone V Camera Club has inducted a new member, Cris San Jose,  during the club’s face to face meeting last January 2024 at the Ayala Museum.

Here is Cris’s Q&A so we can get to know him better.

Please tell us about yourself: your family, your work, your hobbies and other interests.

I’m Dr. Crisostomo Z. San Jose, Tommy or Cris for short, and  I am an internist and cardiologist, with subspecialty in echocardiography. I am happily married to Dr. Millie, a pediatrician, and have 2 wonderful daughters, Cyrene, who is a post-graduate medical intern, and Francine, a first year medical student. I do enjoy sports, including basketball, bowling and swimming but recently, photography has piqued my interest and honed my creativity.

Share with us some thoughts on your ZVCC Probee experience.

I consider my  ZVCC Probee experience to be unforgettable and memorable. From the day that we began our encounters with every member, whether on-line or face to face, I constantly felt the warm welcome afforded to us. Every person was always so willing to advise, teach and guide us on our photography journey. The OTS was particularly enjoyable considering the opportunities to visit and capture various beautiful sites, along with the non-stop dining, dancing, and bonding during the fellowship nights.

What type of movies and music do you enjoy?

I love watching action movies, such as those that feature Bruce Willis, Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler and Tom Cruise. I also enjoy comedy and feel -good movies. Recently, my wife and I became interested in Korean shows, which portrayed interesting, suspenseful and out of this world storylines. As for music, I enjoy disco music of the 70s and 80s as well as OPM.

If you were given a chance to spend one day with a famous personality, who would that person be and why?

Since I enjoy watching sports, I would want to spend the day with the Hall of Famers in basketball, such as Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Scottie Pippen, Kobe Bryant or Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  I would probably spend the day inquiring about their experiences, lives and careers.

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

As a doctor, I believe empathy with every patient is essential in creating holistic treatment approaches, and in my field, I strive to always practice it.

What is the most memorable lesson you learned from your parents?

The most memorable lesson I learned from my parents is the love they had for one another, and for their own children. It lasted 7 years. My Papa died at an early age (42 years old) due to a rare disease. I was 6 years old, and my youngest siblings, who were twins, were only 1 year old. My mother took care of us, and through all these years, we learned to support and care for one another in the same way my Papa always did.

If you could master one skill right now that you don’t currently have, what would it be?

I believe I need to further hone my skills in photography. I still consider myself a newbie since I would usually act as an assistant to my wife before (tagabuhat ng bag and equipment, hehe).  During the past year as a probee, I was able to learn a lot of things while listening to the judges and comments from the members. I still believe I have much to learn.

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

I would sing Anna and Panalangin by APO.

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

I would want Coco Martin or Isko Moreno to play myself. Many friends say, “kamukha ko raw” (jokejoke).

Share 5 qualities that you appreciate most in people.

I appreciate when people are God-fearing, humble, honest, empathize with others, and show integrity.

Would you rather be jack of all trades or a master of one?

I would rather by a jack of all trades because it would make one a well rounded person.

What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?

I would like to meet any of the basketball players I had enumerated earlier. Even if I were not to spend a whole day with them, it would be interesting to share a cup of coffee with them and learn of their lives.
