ARNEL “DONKIE” AUDITOR

ZVCC’s Newly Inducted Member

Corinne Blanco asked Donkie, Zone V Camera Club’s newly inducted member a few questions to get him to talk more about himself so that we can get a peek into who he is as a person. Here are the questions together with his replies:

Please tell us about yourself: your hobbies, your work, your family and your other interests.

I am a Cebuano with Boholano blood from my late father. I lived in Cebu for the first 27 years of my life but in 1995 I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and move to Luzon where I eventually landed a job at the Cabuyao plant of Proctor & Gamble. I retired in 2018 but am still actively working as a Quality Maintenance and Management Systems Head in a Corrugator Manufacturing Plant.

It was in 2008 when I started my photography journey, armed with a Nikon D80.  Since then, I have been active in photography workshops and groups and last March 2022, I decided to apply for membership with Zone V. I have no regrets, I am happy and am truly grateful.

On a more personal note, I got married last 2001 and my wife and I have been blessed with a son whom we named Zebadiah meaning “God’s gift”.

What other interests do I have? During my younger years I was into Airsoft (a sport using almost an exact replica of a real gun) then I switched to badminton.  I was an enthusiast…a BADDICT (badminton addict, that is).

Share with us some thoughts on your ZVCC Probee experience.

From the beginning I saw and experienced how committed the Club’s Membership Committee was to us Probees. They remained by our side every step of the way and that made a deep impression on me. Then, on my first in-person meeting with the ZVCC Members during the Club’s 44th Anniversary in Taal, barely a month after I joined, I was made to feel so welcome! I never felt out of place and was right away made to feel that I was part of the Zone V family. This was a pleasant but strange feeling for me as I had never felt this welcome at any of the other clubs or groups that I had joined in the past.

Share with us three places you’d like to go visit for photography.

Cambodia – because of its incredible history, culture and natural beauty.

Vietnam – because of its breathtaking landscape, smiling people, its coffee and the affordability.

Japan –because I am amazed at how they have preserved the country’s natural beauty—which I would love to capture— in the midst of their advancement in technology. I would very much like to travel there during the cherry blossom season.

If you could master one skill right now that you don’t currently have, what would it be?

I would love to learn more about videography: directing and editing.

I think taking videos is actually my first love as a hobbyist.  I like capturing candid, animated expressions and movements—like people laughing, displaying expressions of love, expressions of happiness, expressions of sadness.

What are you most grateful for?

That I am with my family and am alive and enjoying life’s mysteries: pain, happiness, sadness, thrills, uncertainties, struggles — they all keep me alive and growing!

What would you change about yourself if you could?

Better anger management on the road. Driving in Manila is never a pleasurable experience and undisciplined motorcyclists and jeepney drivers have a way of getting on my nerves. Music helps to calm me down.

What have you been most proud of learning lately?

I am proud of the fact that I am still learning new things in my new job. I am proud that I enjoy facing new challenges and am open to adopting new directions in life.

Use 10 words to describe yourself.

Generous, Helpful, Kind. I am an Intovert and a self-confessed Alcohol-and-Coffee lover.  I love sharing.  I love giving, I like helping.  I just want to spread whatever blessings I have received to people who are in need. I think it’s what they call “paying it forward”.

So glad to have you on board, Donkie. Welcome to the Zone V Family!
