May 2022

The month of May is frequently described as a merry month as it is a season festooned with fiestas and celebrations of thanksgiving. The merry month of May is also a season wherein flowers are abloom, tropical fruits are abundant and a time to explore places with family and friends as it is the height of summer.
This month however, we got caught in the middle of a frenzied election fever as we exercised our right to vote. People are passionate about their convictions and truly emboldened by what their chosen candidates represent. The electorate have spoken and we all hope that our new leaders in the land will set the direction and inspire us further to prosperity and make our country a safe and habitable place for all of us, living harmoniously as brothers and sisters and as one big happy family.
Quite interesting that for May, the Zone V Camera Club (ZVCC) photo contest theme is Strange Things. We find beauty in the unusual, peculiar, weird and bizarre.
Our Town Hall Meeting happens this Thursday, May 12, 8pm, via Zoom.
Our Z Academy team has also prepared an interesting learning session on Street Photography, with renowned Australia-based photographer Rommel Bundalian.
This Z Academy talk will happen on May 25, also via Zoom.
A fun activity is being arranged by the Let’s Z Places Team which is a photo walk for ZVCC members and it will be held at the Binangonan fish port.
Details on this will be made available soon.
Meanwhile, our Special Events team will be launching a new program that will embody The Club’s vision of excellence in photography while promoting our club through service and a program we’d call “Lingkod Larawan”.
ZVCC collaborates with the University of the Philippines College of Medicine for the first Lingkod Larawan project of The Club. This would entail that ZVCC member’s work will be immortalized by gracing the walls of this 11 story building that is poised to open this July. This edifice is an educational institution for medical students, hence, our collaboration will establish the talents of The Club as the preferred partner of the premier learning center for our future health care practitioners.

More details on the Lingkod Larawan project will be shared to the group separately.
I trust that we all continue our quest for excellence in our art while forging stronger friendships amongst members and doing our part in community building with our various projects.
May the month of May be truly merry for all of us!
